solace at the cottage

Wild strawberries found in abundance on a hike through the nature trails.

The family cottage, built by my great grandfather.

Strawberry picking at Ego's.

The first batch of strawberry jam of the season.

Tons of garlic scapes from the Orillia Farmer's Market.

Not pictured: lounging on the patio for hours, the delicious food we ate, teaching Erick to knit, swimming in the lake.

Those wild baby berries look so cute! And delicious :) I've wanted to try garlic scapes but don't know how to use 'em- what do you put them in??

Danielle, the tiny strawberries were DELICIOUS! They tasted like candy. Yum. And my favourite way to eat garlic scapes is to cut them up (into 2''-ish long pieces) and cook them in some butter and salt and pepper on the stove for 5 minutes-ish. SO GOOD. They're my new favourite side dish.

Amanda! Almost cottage time!! Hopefully there will still be some wild strawberries hanging around. Erick and I did pick a lot...
