a day in the life

So since my days are entirely occupied with art camp right now, I figured I'd show some pictures of what the kids are making. I have the 9-12 year olds. Its awesome seeing what they come up with when you give them a task. Today we made faux cakes out of drywall compound and boxes and painted our paper mache masks, which we made the other day. The cakes were inspired by an exhibit in the gallery called "Cake" by Fiona Kinsella. She makes traditional cakes with fondant and royal icing, then decorates them with teeth, hair, bugs, etc. The masks were inspired by the African "Dance of Life" collection. We also did prints inspired by the masks on display. They turned out really well. You can't go wrong working at an art camp.
